Custom Painting – Wood and Composite Shutters

WOOD AND COMPOSITE SHUTTERS

Note:  Do not allow shutters to stay in the sun and get hot prior to painting or after painting.

Raw Wood or Composite

  1. Lightly sand with a fine grit sand paper or sanding sponge.
  2. Clean off all loose dust.
  3. Spray or brush a coat of wood primer (Oil or Water base, Latex, is okay).
  4. Let dry per instructions of the primer manufacturer.
  5. Sand until smooth.
  6. Clean off dust.
  7. Spray or brush a coat of paint (Oil or water base, Latex, is okay).
  8. Let dry per instructions of paint manufacturer.
  9. Sand until smooth.
  10. Clean off dust.
  11. Spray or brush a second coat of paint.
  12. Allow paint to cure per paint manufacturer’s instructions prior to installing.

Note:    DO NOT LEAN SHUTTERS AGAINST ONE ANOTHER EVEN IF THE PAINT FEELS DRY.  THEY CAN STICK TOGETHER!
